Two Youth, Two Schools, Two Programs

April 9, 2013

The Neil Squire Society was very fortunate to have two different practicum students help out in two different departments before the New Year; Christy, a student in the Classroom and Community Support Program at Douglas College (new window)and Teri, a Capilano University student in the Rehabilitation Assistant Program (new window).

Teri and Christy, youth at the Neil Squire Society Christy and Teri’s big smiles along with their upbeat and bubbly personalities made their presence at the Neil Squire Society (new window) truly enjoyable.

“I loved it here! I originally came here disappointed in my program because I really wanted to work with children. I’ve always thought that I would want to work with children and be able to help them. Being at the Neil Squire Society has opened up my eyes. I’ll probably go and work with adults now. The Neil Squire Society was my door to see what is available.” – Christy

“I requested to come to the Neil Squire Society so I could learn more about adaptive technology. It gave me a skill that not many people have. I really enjoyed the community aspect of the program. I would get to go to participant’s houses with the Assistive Technology Assistants (new window) at the Neil Squire Society. Here I was able to really see who the participants are, and learn how to deal with them from day to day. We created a bond.” – Teri

Thank you both for all of your help! We enjoyed having you here at the Neil Squire Society.
