WorkBC Assistive Technology Services Helps Wilma Communicate on the Job

April 16, 2025

Wilma works as a server at an assisted living facility for seniors. She takes orders from residents, and communicates meal adjustments to the kitchen. However, her hearing loss impacts her communication with residents, co-workers, and management.

A server cleans a table. Her audiologist referred her to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to help fund the hearing aids she needs for work. Wilma applied and was quickly approved.

The hearing aids have made a big difference in her workday, making communication much easier with residents and staff.

“I can hear my residents without asking them for multiple repeats of information,” she shares.

Wilma says she recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others in need. “WorkBC blows my mind with all they have to offer. It’s great the province offers this service to individuals.”

WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
