On Tuesday, we hosted another great Youth Making Change (new window) build event in Winnipeg, Manitoba with the help of our partners and sponsors, North Forge (new window), Women in 3D Printing (new window), and Red River College Polytechnic (new window).

High school students from Pembina Trails School Division, Seven Oaks School Division, and the River East Transcona School Division worked together to make assistive switches and adapt toys, with help from volunteer mentors.

To start the event, students were greeted by Manitoba Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning, Wayne Ewasko, while keynote speaker Chris Martin, of The Movement Centre of Manitoba (new window) and an MMC community partner and chapter leader, helped the students see just how impactful these devices can be for children with disabilities.

In the end, students built 19 MMC60 Switches (new window) and switch adapted 12 Boppin’ Beaver (new window) toys.

The switches and toys will be donated to the Movement Centre and other local organizations in Manitoba.

The build event was our second build event with North Forge, and we are looking forward to many more in the future.
