On October 10th, student teachers from the University of Saskatchewan worked together to build Rocker Switches for our #HackingForTheHolidays campaign.

In all, they built 10 Rocker Switches, which will be donated to Theraplay, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, and Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.

“What a great opportunity to learn! Not only about Neil Squire initiatives — so powerful, logical, bucket filling — but even how to solder,” says Don McBean, the college supervisor.

“As a retired teacher and administrator, I was watching the promotional and instructional material, and then participating in the hacking, I was thinking all the time how this could fit into so many different school situations.”

While the student teachers worked on their switches, students from Saskatoon Public Schools also participated in build events on October 10th and 11th, building over 100 devices that will be delivered to local organizations.
