That’s a wrap on ATIA 2024, the conference where assistive and accessible technology manufacturers, developers, practitioners, and professionals meet to network, learn, and share. The conference, which was held in Orlando, Florida, drew almost 3,000 in-person attendees, and Neil Squire was thrilled to once again be part of it. Neil Squire Assistive Technology Specialists and staff members from across Canada attended this year to soak up all they could about AT. Makers Making Change East Region Coordinator Courtney Cameron presented two sessions.
“Toys For All: A Beginner’s Guide to Toy Adapting,” was presented to a full house. Courtney led the audience through the steps of adapting a toy in a very approachable and inspiring manner. Her second session, Accessible STEM Education and Maker Spaces, which she presented alongside Occupational Therapists from Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, provided an excellent overview of how to make Maker Spaces more accessible.
The exhibit hall was jam-packed with assistive and accessible technology products and services and we needed multiple walk-throughs to be able to fully take it in. We were pleasantly surprised to run into folks from all across North America who were familiar with Neil Squire and our work.
Well done, ATIA, on another successful event, and thank you for having us!
