January 31, 2023

Kylie was referred to Neil Squire through Oxford House (new window) last year. Kylie was born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and has been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Kylie joined our Working Together program with hopes of finding employment that would be fulfilling and accommodate her barriers.

Kylie began working with her Job Developer and prepared a list of employment goals and accommodations she needed at a job. She enhanced her resume and cover letter and was shown how to tailor both to specific job postings. She learned how to make a good first impression at interviews by being on time, prepared, and well dressed.

Kylie reviewed ways to stay positive during a job search such as eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and meditation. Additionally, she participated in discussions about disclosing disabilities to employers.

Through hard work and persistence, Kylie was able to interview with a new car wash company in Regina. Kylie’s positive personality and preparation paid off and she was offered a position immediately after the interview.

At her job, Kylie is responsible for customer satisfaction, sales, and the overall cleanliness of the building. She is incredibly excited to start this new journey.
