We received a wonderful message this week from Deb, a high school friend of Neil Squire. “I saw a television ad last night on TV and it brought back memories,” shares Deb. Neil was very active with the high school boys basketball team, and Deb was a cheerleader. Deb’s best friend dated Neil in school and later on her sister dated him in university. After his accident, Deb visited Neil a couple of times while he was in Vancouver Hospital before she moved to Alberta. “He was a wonderful soft spoken guy, thank you for honouring him,” she says.

Deb also shared a newspaper clipping with us from her high school days. Neil can be seen in the picture on the right. He’s second from the left, standing in front of the player who’s jumping.

Neil Squire passed away on this day in 1984, and our organization was founded in his honour.
