The Government of Canada has announced funding for Creative Employment Options, a new Neil Squire employment program.
On June 2nd, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, Carla Qualtrough, announced (new window) funding of more than $118 million over the next three years under the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities (OF). This will support 60 projects that organizations across Canada are launching this year, to help improve access to jobs and workplace accessibility for Canadians with disabilities.
The new Creative Employment Options program is designed to help people with disabilities develop the skills they need to achieve their employment goals. Participants are eligible if they have a self-declared disability, require assistance to gain or maintain employment, and are legally able to work in Canada.
Creative Employment Options also provides employment assistance to businesses of any size looking to hire people with disabilities, by connecting them with qualified candidates and providing ongoing support. Wage subsidies are also available through the program.
