OpenRoad Build Event
May 27 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm PDT
Event Navigation

Every child deserves to play. But for many kids with disabilities, toys can be hard to use independently, and commercially adapted versions can run upwards of $300. However, with a little bit of tinkering, we can switch-adapt toys and make them accessible for a fraction of the cost.
Through OpenRoad’s support, buildathon events allow us to make make assistive switches and adapt toys for families and therapists across Canada at no cost.
Event:
This event will give OpenRoad Group members and community volunteers the opportunity to walk through a toy adaption with Makers Making Change staff. Members will be given the opportunity to solder and test out their adaptive device. Devices will then be donated to members in the community.
Who is Makers Making Change:
Makers Making Change is an online platform providing a disruptively low-cost alternative to commercially available assistive technologies. With a wide range of devices available in the assistive devices library, there are many options for people to request from and work with a volunteer maker who can build it for them.
