Event Navigation

Makers Making Change’s New York City Chapter is hosting this exciting workshop!
Do you love video games? Are you interested in learning how to make a video game? Know how already? Do you want to learn how to make them more accessible?
During this one-day hackathon, we will be using the block-based coding environment, Makecode Arcade (new window), in order to create a wide repository of video games that are accessible to players with motor disabilities using only one or two switches. We will walk participants through the Makecode environment and the why and how of creating these games.
This event aims to bridge a gap in play between switch-adapted toys and the more complex gaming environments like PlayStation and Xbox. All skill levels are welcome!
Target Audience:
- K-12 Students
- Families/ Caregivers
- Disability Professionals
- Game Designers
- Anyone that wants to help Location:
The event will be held via Zoom over multiple break-out rooms based on your interest and skill level. You will be provided with the Zoom link after registration.
Please note, there are two registration options. Please select “Volunteer”, if you are already familiar with the Makecode Arcade environment and are willing to help support a breakout room.
Please reach out if you require accommodations or support during this event.
