Innovation Challenge Accessibility and Assistive Technology Hackathon
September 28, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 5:30 pm PDT

Do you have an idea to enhance our human capabilities? Join Makers Making Change at the Crofton School’s All Girl Youth Hackathon on Sept 28, 2019! The event will take place between 9AM and 5:30PM and is built on a curriculum of design thinking, critical problem solving and applied creativity. There is no coding or programming required. This is open to all Senior School students (Grade 8 -12) from York House School, Little Flower Academy and Crofton House School. Competitors will work in teams (up to 5) and present their ideas live on stage at the end of the day. Students will prototype an assistive technology solution that addresses a limitation people are having in their day-to-day lives. Participants have access to a workspace that includes hand tools, 3D printer, a laser cutter, basic stock materials (e.g. adhesives, fasteners) and of course their laptop.
Attendees will have access to industry mentors, prospective clients and workshops. Prizes include VR escape room experiences and an invitation to pitch your idea at an official industry pitch night.
