Are technology and digital services easily accessible?
Join us on Zoom on July 21, 2023, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM PT for our next Accessible Community Forum on Digital Accessibility to discover our community’s thoughts.
Have your opinion on the topic heard by taking our survey now: https://forms.office.com/r/LBdKVKP0HR (new window)
Digital accessibility refers to deliberately designing and offering digital services for all users, specifically users with disabilities.
As the world rapidly becomes more digital, a significant gap is growing between current technology and its accessibility to people with disabilities.
Register now, and on July 21st join us on Zoom: https://bit.ly/3MNcsjW (new window)
Accessibility features often are added to new technology after its development, causing an endless race to catch up with the latest and greatest.
Presented by the Disability Foundation and hosted by the ConnecTra Society (new window), this next Accessible Community Forum aims to cultivate a conversation between various organizations and our community of people with disabilities.
Digital accessibility is a frequent topic of discussion in our outreach, previous Accessible Community Forums (new window), and affiliated societies’ regular programming. Through our survey and forum, we will build on our current knowledge and broaden our collective understanding of your needs and how best to accommodate them.
Your feedback is essential to driving change in the accessibility of digital services. We encourage all our community members to come and voice their experiences and opinions. A final report with the forum’s findings will be sent to the panelists, related nonprofit organizations, grantors who may fund these needs, and government representatives.
Help us explore possible solutions and resources to bridge the gap between the accessible technology and digital services you currently experience and what they could become. The forum is an open, honest, and inclusive dialogue between a panel of organizational representatives and our beautiful province’s diverse disability community.
The panelists for the coming Accessible Community Forum include:
- Kim Donaldson and Shane Kehoe from Fable, an inclusive tech company working directly with adaptive tech and people with disabilities.
- Ean Price from Technology for Living, a nonprofit organization providing people with disabilities innovative equipment to increase their independence and wellbeing.
- Nate Toevs from Neil Squire, a non-profit organization that is revolutionizing Canadians’ with disabilities’ lives through accessible technology.
- Jenn McLean and Katrina Summers from the Government of BC’s Web Governance and Digital Accessibility Team. ‘
Start the conversation by taking the Digital Accessibility Survey (new window) by Sunday, July 16, at 11:59 PM PT.
You are the expert of your experience. Be heard.
