Husein didn’t have a computer, and he hadn’t used one in many years.
“I couldn’t really afford a computer,” he says. “I was using my phone all the time, but that’s not very practical.”
He has rheumatoid arthritis as well as Long COVID, which makes it difficult to work. Looking for programs that could help him, he had learned about Neil Squire and decided to give them a call.
“Starting from the person who answered the call, the receptionist, I found them very helpful, very knowledgeable, and friendly,” he shares.
Before long, he was placed in the Digital Jumpstart (new window) program, where he received a new computer, keyboard, headset, and stand for the computer. He also worked with a tutor, Gordon, on updating his computer skills, particularly focusing on Microsoft Office.
He found the training quickly refreshed his memory on the computer skills he had thought he had lost, and he appreciated the ability to ask questions about the topics they covered.
“It was excellent,” Husein shares. “It’s really opened the doors to the world with the access to the computer, looking up email, finding information, and all that.
“That was very helpful, and I really appreciate that.”
Husein says his life has changed “quite a bit” thanks to Digital Jumpstart. He is hoping to get back into the workforce when he can manage it with his health, doing some form of remote work, and is interested in Neil Squire’s Creative Employment Options (new window) program.
“I was very impressed with your organization.”
