Cynthia had a severe traumatic brain injury in 2017 that left her fighting for her life. She had to relearn many things — reading, writing, walking without an aid, managing stairs, and even putting jam on toast. When she heard about Neil Squire’s Creative Employment Options program, she decided to join with the hopes of enhancing her employment skills.
Upon joining the Creative Employment Options program, Cynthia worked closely with her Job Developer to acquire practical skills, explore different career paths, and reignite her sense of purpose and confidence. With guidance from employment specialists, Cynthia learned about career exploration, self-marketing, and how to use her strengths and experiences to try new things.
She gained invaluable insights into interview techniques and job maintenance, utilizing mock interviews and role-playing exercises to help her articulate her value to prospective employers with clarity and confidence. She also learned essential workplace strategies such as prioritizing self-care and learning a work-life balance.
Throughout her journey in the program, Cynthia underwent a profound personal and professional transformation. Armed with newfound skills and a renewed sense of determination, she decided to take her love for art which had fueled her rehabilitation and share it with others.
Cynthia took the skills and confidence she worked so hard on and focused on becoming an entrepreneur. She built a business (new window) where the art, jewelry, and leatherwork she creates are sold in stores and online to help others in their journey and ignite inspiration.
