On November 23rd, 22 volunteers braved the snow for our first Hacking for the Holidays (new window) build event in Cranbrook, BC.
In all, the Cranbrook volunteers adapted and built over 60 devices, including 19 toys, 22 switches, and 22 battery interrupters.
The build event was hosted in partnership with the YXC Makerspace (new window) and the Ground Floor Coworking Space (new window), with support from the StellerVista Credit Union (new window) via a StellerImpact grant.
Throughout our Hacking for the Holidays campaign, we’re looking to adapt and donate 2,000 toys and switches to families and clinicians across Canada. To do this, we need your help to raise $140,000 to spread the joy of play this holiday season. Every dollar counts — many battery-operated toys can be adapted with just $5 of parts, while $50 can cover the whole cost of a toy and switch.
