The Monday Makeathon (new window) is a #BCTECH Summit (new window) pre-summit event that will take place over four hours on March 13th, 2017.
Registered teams will be provided with the components and instructions to build a LipSync, a mouth-operated joystick with sip and puff controls. Each team will help one person with a disability leave the event with a new LipSync of their own, giving them the opportunity to independently use mobile technology.
Teams will be supplied with the tools, components, parts and instructions, and will work together to assemble, solder, 3D print components, transfer the code onto an Arduino board, and mount the device to a wheelchair. They will be supported by a team of Neil Squire Society engineers.
We are currently looking for makers interested in building a LipSync and people with disabilities who need a LipSync. The event runs from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Monday, March 13th at the Vancouver Convention Centre (new window) West Building. For more information, and to register, please visit the #BCTECH Summit Monday Makeathon Eventbrite page (new window).
Be sure to stay for the party at 5:00 pm for #BCTECH on the Terrace, the public kick-off to the #BCTECH Summit that includes lighting of the Olympic Cauldron at 5:30 pm! Join us at the Pacific West Terrace of the Vancouver Convention Centre for food, drinks and DJ Emilia spinning from the Traction on Demand Airstream.
