Tammy Finds Relief in Assistive Technology

January 27, 2015

When Tammy, who has Lupus (new window), first arrived at the Neil Squire Society (new window), she was reluctant to express what her challenges were with her job tasks. It was as if she felt she did not deserve the help. Working with her, the Neil Squire Society team determined what tasks were causing her pain and they developed solutions to help her.

Neil Squire Society participant, TammyTammy received a new chair for better lumbar support, a wireless head set and lifter to help complete long phone calls with clients, and a foot rest to better support her legs and feet, along with some minor adjustments to her monitor level.

The relief this Assistive Technology (new window) has provided Tammy both shocked and amazed her as she did not believe that it would have been able to make such a positive change in her daily job tasks and allow her to do her job more efficiently. The biggest difference for Tammy is that at the end of the day, she is able to leave work at work because she is without pain. This has been life changing for Tammy as she can go home at the end of the day and be excited to spend time with her granddaughter and not worry about how she may feel physically. “I have never been more comfortable in a job in my life,” she says.
