Joey came to the Neil Squire Society (new window) through a high school work placement. It was a short and sweet visit, but Joey would like to come back and do more volunteering in the Computer Comfort Program or with the Computer Refurbishing Program.
“I was interested in the Neil Squire Society because I’m really interested in computers,” says Joey. “I felt that I was unsure of my direction after high school, but this volunteer opportunity helped guide me; anything in the IT field,” Joey says with excitement.
“It was nice to see the other volunteers come in and teach the participants about computers.” It was a very comfortable environment,” says Joey.
Since 2010, the Neil Squire Society has hosted over a dozen youth like Joey from the Burnaby School District’s Computer Support Technician Program (new window).
We have provided over 500 hours of work experience towards their graduation requirements.
