You just can’t get rid of us

Michael and Bryan, Distance Cpmputer Comfort participantsTwo brothers, Michael and Bryan, from Penticton, (new window) British Columbia (new window), have learned that you can’t get rid of the Neil Squire Society. Both brothers have dedicated their time to enhancing their computer skills, and advancing their education for the purpose of re-entering the work force. Aware that the ability to use a computer is a requirement for many jobs, they joined the Distance Computer Comfort Program at the Neil Squire Society.  “You can’t function this day in age being computer illiterate,” says Michael.

Michael, who has arthritis that causes constant pain in his lower back and knees, is unable to do work where he has to stand for a long period of time. He is looking for work where computer skills are a necessity. His brother, Bryan, lives his life with severe lower back pain, and wanted to develop his computer skills to help with an English course at Okanagan College. (new window)Both brothers would enjoy the opportunity to work in sales.

“What really made the experience of the Neil Squire Society come together was learning the story about the person, Neil Squire,” says Michael. “The organization has incredible, helpful, volunteers. These people really do have passion. You don’t just take a program and then say ‘see ya,’ Neil Squire Society keeps helping you. They don’t walk away.”
