Skills and New Found Confidence Lead to Summer Job

June 4, 2009

Employ-Ability Participant VictorVictor used the business skills he learned in the Employ-Ability program to secure a job for the coming summer and looks forward to opportunities for further employment.

Despite his success, Victor’s start in the program was not a smooth one. His first session was cut short by his illness and he had to step down. He was encouraged to return as soon as his health improved. After a couple of weeks, he was back and more determined than ever.

Victor was described as a strong participant in the program by his instructors. He made the most of the opportunity, building strong connections with the other participants. Upon completion, he applied what he had learned and landed a job.

Victor will be driving an ice cream truck part time this summer for a local company. He successfully negotiated his territory and has liaised with schools in his district to schedule appearances on sports days and other public events. He looks forward to working with the public and being outdoors.

Victor paired his determination and will to succeed with the skills and confidence he gained in the Neil Squire Society Employ-Ability program to become his own success story.
