Diagnosed with anxiety and depression in 2015, Brad faced significant challenges in managing his mental health while navigating daily life. His anxiety manifested through disassociation, difficulty processing thoughts, and physical symptoms like panic attacks.
Brad’s challenges were compounded by hearing loss in both ears — stemming from a punctured eardrum in 2004, and gradual natural hearing loss — as well as an old back and hip injury. Despite these obstacles, Brad never stopped striving for improvement.
In April, Brad joined our Creative Employment Options program to work towards finding employment. Through the program, he participated in career assessments like the MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory, revamped his employment documents, and honed his interview skills through mock interviews. Brad also became a dedicated volunteer as a computer tutor in our Computer Comfort program, where he helped others in basic computer skills while building his own confidence and self-esteem.
Over the course of the program, Brad’s progress was remarkable. His determination, paired with the support and resources provided by Neil Squire, allowed him to emerge stronger, more self-assured, and ready to tackle new challenges.
Brad’s dedication and growth led to an incredible opportunity: he was hired by Neil Squire to work in the Empower3D program as an Employment Specialist. Joining our Prairie Region team, Brad has expressed deep gratitude for Neil Squire’s role in his journey. His new role allows him to use his experiences to empower others, serving as an inspiring example of overcoming adversity and achieving meaningful employment.
“Thanks to everyone at Neil Squire. The team at Neil Squire helped me back into the world. Through meetings and volunteer opportunities, I was able to build my confidence and see that I am more than my anxiety,” Brad shares.
“I feel grateful for the chance to work somewhere that aligns with my values and allows me the chance to be who I truly am.”
