Jason had never had a job before, and had never gone through the job search process. He has cerebral palsy, mild spastic diplegia, and scoliosis, but does not use a wheelchair as he has had surgeries in the past to help him walk.
While attending some adult education courses at Capilano University, he decided to join Neil Squire’s Working Together program to find employment.
Jason says the Working Together team made the process feel easy as a first-time job-seeker.
“My Case Manager helped me make a resume, helped me make a cover letter, and how to use job searching [tools],” he shares.
Jason’s hard work paid off when he was able to find a job as a file clerk with a home-care company based in Vancouver. His duties include scanning documents to upload them on a computer, and organizing them. He enjoys his workplace.
“It’s pretty good. I like the atmosphere of the office, I like the people there,” he shares.
Jason says he would “definitely” recommend Neil Squire’s programs to other people in need, complimenting the service he received from staff.
“While I was at Neil Squire, I found a job,” he explains. “Everyone there is very welcoming, positive, and they think of you.”
While working, Jason is continuing his studies at Capilano University and intends to take a business course in the future.
