October 4, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm CDT

Makers Making Change are hosting a workshop in partnership with North Forge (new window), supported by Women in 3D Printing and sponsored by Red River College Polytechnic (new window), on October 4th 2022 @ 9.00am-3.30pm (CST)

(this is a private event and by invitation only)

Join us to learn about Assistive Technology and the work of the Neil Squire Society and the Makers Making Change program.  Hear from our Keynote Speaker: Chris Martin, Conductor and MMC Chapter Leader at The Movement Centre (new window).

High School students will be learning the basics of 3D printing using slicr software, how to design a switch topper and build an MMC60 switch.

This switch is activated by applying pressure on the top surface. This switch can be connected to any standard AT interface, and can be used to operate switch adapted toys and with the Xbox Adaptive Controller. The switch can be used on a flat surface or mounted using the 1/4″-20 UNC connection on the bottom.

The top button/activation surface is attached to the base by threading it on. This makes it easy to change tops to change color, labels, etc.

Students will also switch adapt a toy for donation to a child with disabilities.

Full build kits, toys, tools and step by step instructions will be supplied to participants.  Students will be joined by North Forge mentors to help with the switch build.

Makers Making Change is pleased to have you join us to provide assistive devices to people with disabilities in your community!
