When Ysabelle first joined Neil Squire’s Working Together program, she was uncertain of what she wanted to do for work. But it was apparent from the first meeting with her Career Facilitator that she had an incredible amount of drive and energy.
Ysabelle is legally blind and has Fibromyalgia. She experiences sensitivity to bright lights and requires Zoom text and a screen reader if she needs to read larger chunks of text. Because of her chronic pain, typing couldn’t be the main part of her job and she can’t stay in any position for too long of a period. She also needed a job that would allow her to have flexible deadlines and manage her own workload.
Working with Neil Squire staff, she completed her career research and crafted a resume in both official languages.
She was a very motivated job seeker and had some valuable work experience and education that helped in her job search.
While she had initially also considered self-employment options, she decided that she wanted to work from home in a contract position. However, Ysabelle didn’t have the necessary equipment to work from home.
By early fall, Ysabelle had found a job at a software company that completed accessibility testing for equipment. It was a perfect solution for her — the job was contract-based, work from home, and she would be in control of her own hours.
And with funding from the Working Together program, Ysabelle received the equipment she needed to do her job.
What can be seen as a very small thing to some can make a world of difference in a person’s life. We are so happy for you, Ysabelle and wish you continued success. We have no doubt that you will continue to take the world by storm!
