While he was completing his business degree at Acadia University, Jordan was referred to Neil Squire’s Working Together program through his university’s accessible services department. He was incredibly motivated and enthusiastic about his future goals but needed some direction and support developing his skills connecting with employers.
Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, Jordan had trouble at times relating with others in his classes and could be frustrated at his lack of success.
Through hard work, and support from the Working Together program, he began to channel these frustrations and find his stride academically and in his career development.
Soon, Jordan was exceling. He networked with various committees and groups, contacted individuals in his chosen sector to learn more, and worked hard on his resume, cover letters and interview skills.
Jordan completed his business degree and graduated from Acadia University. A few months later, he landed a term position as a Financial Clerk with the Government of Nova Scotia.
But he continued his hard work making connections, updating and tailoring his resume, and reached out to his Job Developer for advice and support when he needed it.
Before long, Jordan found a great job as a Technical Specialist with a large Technical Consulting Firm. In this role, he uses utilizes the knowledge from his business degree and his valuable networking skills as he works with various clients in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
Jordan continues to succeed and make strides in both his career and personal life, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!
